Chelsea Coach Urges Higuain To Emulate Suarez For Premier League Inspiration

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Sarri, has urged striker, Gonzalo Higuan, to look towards fellow South American footballer and Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez, for inspiration on to how to adapt to life in the top flight

With just three goals coming the way of the former Real Madrid striker in eight appearances in the Premier League since joining the Blues on loan from Juventus in January. Chelsea fans, used to the swashbuckling style of strikers like Didier Drogba and Douglas Costa among others,
do not seem impressed, especially with the goals coming against struggling sides like Huddersfield Town and Fulham.

Sarri, who worked with Higuan to explosive effect in Seria A side, Napoli, was led to reiterate his stance that Higuain needs to do more in the closing weeks of the season, urging him to take solace in the dramatic improvement of Suarez after a slow start to life with Liverpool.

The Uruguay international scored just 15 goals in 44 Premier League appearances across his first season-and-a-half after joining the Merseyside giants from Ajax in January 2011.

However, he went on to notch 54 league goals over the next two seasons, leading to his acquisition by Spanish giants, Barcelona.
Speaking at a media briefing, Sarri said, “He has to improve physically and mentally so that he will be useful for us in the last part of the season.
“It’s not easy in the first months to play in the Premier League. It was a problem for Suarez in the first season at Liverpool but in the second season he scored 23 goals.

“It’s not easy for a striker to play immediately well. I think he needs time to improve his condition and be suitable for the Premier League but I think he is able to do it.”

Asked if he would like the striker, who recently announced his international retirement with Argentina, to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond his existing loan deal, Sarri replied: “Yes, but it depends on the club [Chelsea] and it depends on Juventus. The situation is not clear.”
