The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, was on Wednesday thrown into mourning as one of its former lecturers was found dead in his car.
The lecturer, identified as Dr Olatunde Adegbuyi, was said to be a lecturer at the Department of Earth Sciences of the university.
It was learnt that Adegbuyi was reportedly hale and hearty when he was last seen.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the incident was confirmed by the Head of Media and Protocol, AAUA, Mr Victor Akinpelumi, noting that the deceased was a former lecturer and had retired from the institution.
According to a source, the deceased was discovered dead by residents of Akungba Akoko, who noticed that he was in his car parked on the Permanent Site Street.
“It was a passer-by who first noticed that he was in the car and his head had dropped and his body was not moving. The person quickly raised the alarm to call the attention of the other residents of the area. On getting there, it was discovered the lecturer had gone,” the source said.
However, the cause of the death of the former lecturer could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, also confirmed the incident, adding that investigation had commenced into the matter.
“When our men got there, it was discovered that there was no sign that the deceased was touched. But it is the doctor’s report that can reveal the actual cause of death. The deceased was over 70-years old,” Ikoro stated.
