- President Buhari has appointed new NBC DG
EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Balarabe Shehu Ilelah as the acting Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, via a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
The minister noted that Ilelah’s appointment is for a tenure of five years in the first instance.
Ilelah was appointed by President Buhari as the new NBC DG following the removal of Professor Armstrong Idachaba.
Idachaba’s removal was announced four days after he ordered all broadcast stations in the country to go off Twitter.
The directive was in line with the suspension of Twitter by the Federal Government (FG).
