EKOHOTBLOG reports that popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, has reacted to reports that he has links to a terror financier, Abubakar Mohammed Surajo, who is currently in prison in the UAE.

Recall that the Attorney General Of The Federation And Minister Of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had on Friday said the FG has uncovered the identity of the sponsors of Sunday Igboho.

The AGF added that a committee set up by the Federal Government unravelled how Igboho got monies from 43 bank accounts, across nine banks.

Igboho was also accused by the FG of being funded by a Serving Nigerian Lawmaker.

However, Sunday Igboho, while reacting via a statement by his lawyer, Chief Yomi Aliu, said that he is a businessman and not a terrorist.

The statement read, “The picture the AGF wanted to paint is that our client is being financed by Abdullah Umar, allegedly involved in terrorist financing. Who is now financing who?”

“Again, Chief Adeyemo is a car dealer trading in the name of Adesun International Concept Ltd. Does it mean that anybody buying a car from him or selling a car to him is a terrorist?”

“I challenge the Hon AGF to mention the lawmaker that sent money to Chief Sunday Adeyemo for terrorist act whether he would not be damnified in exemplary damages for defamation.”

EKOHOTBLOG recalls that Sunday Igboho, who is currently in a detention facility in the Benin Republic, was arrested alongside his wife on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic while attempting to flee to Germany.

Sunday Igboho’s wife, Ropo, was later released after the court found out that she had not committed any offence.

On his part, the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator was returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

This came after the Beninese court ordered that Sunday Igboho be remanded in a prison facility in the Francophone West African nation while further investigations were carried out on the case against the agitator.

The Yoruba rights activist, who is now seeking asylum in the Benin Republic, is facing allegations bordering on trafficking in arms, inciting violence, and causing disunity in Nigeria.

It would be further recalled that DSS had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides, and killed two of them in a gun battle.
