- Marcus Rashford reacts to Smith Rowe’s debut call up for England
- Says it’s well deserved
Ekohotblog reports that Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford has reacted to the recent call up of Arsenal’s prodigy, Emile Smith Rowe.
Arsenal’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder joined the England squad at St George’s Park on Monday ahead of the forthcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and San Marino.
He had initially been set to join up with the U21s but has been drafted in by manager Gareth Southgate after Marcus Rashford, James Ward-Prowse, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw did not report for international duty.
Smith Rowe has been in fine form for the Gunners in recent weeks, helping the side climb up to fifth place in the Premier League table with his return in front of goal.
He scored his first goal of the league season in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa last month and then followed that up with strikes against Leicester City and most recently Watford.
Ever since he broke into Arsenal’s Premier League side for their clash with Chelsea on Boxing Day last year, Smith Rowe has been an ever-present figure under Mikel Arteta.
There was much grumbling amongst football fans when Emile Smith Rowe was excluded from the England squad because many felt he was deserving of it and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has confirmed this when he was later recalled to the squad.
Reacting to the news, Rashford dropped a simple message of “well deserved” for the Arsenal star.
