Abramovich has owned Chelsea since 2003 and has always staunchly denied any current political links to Russia’s ruling elite, but Boris Johnson’s Government has now frozen all his UK assets.

Chelsea will be given a special licence to continue operation, but the sale of the Stamford Bridge club is now on hold.

The very shape of Chelsea’s long-term future has been thrown into doubt with restrictions on ticket sales, transfers and new contracts.

There’s huge uncertainty at Stamford Bridge following the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich by the UK government.
Fans of other clubs are basking in this convinced this will lead to a decline on the pitch.

However, Thomas Tuchel delivered a powerful message to worried Chelsea fans during a post-match interview with newsmen.

There’s a lot of tension at Stamford Bridge following the latest revelations, but Tuchel has promised fans the players will continue to give everything to the club.

He said after Chelsea’s win at Norwich: “Well, let’s see. If it stays like this, okay, but let’s see if it stays like this.
“We take it day by day, I didn’t see it coming yesterday. I don’t know what’s coming tomorrow.
“Everybody can be very sure that we focus on us and we focus to keep the mentality and the attitude right and at our training ground and in the team and so far we trust each other and this will not change.

“As long as we have enough shirts and as long as we have a bus to drive to the game we will be there and we will compete hard.”

The Russian-Israeli billionaire had his assets frozen by the UK government on Thursday, plunging the future of Chelsea into huge doubt.

However, Tuchel cuts a reasonably relaxed figure considering the circumstances as he reiterated his commitment to the club.

On the sanctions for Abramovich, Tuchel said: “I don’t know if I am concerned… but we are aware of it [sanctions for Abramovich].”
“It changes almost everyday, so we cannot do much about it…”
He added: “I am still happy to be here and be a manager of a strong football team. I feel privileged.”
“We didn’t cause the situation, in the moment it seems like business is more or less protected, but let’s see.”
