Tinubu has cancelled the highly anticipated 13th colloquium to mark his 70th Birthday.
- Tinubu said his action became necessary to mourn the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna Train attack, which occurred on Monday night in Kaduna State.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cancelled the 13th birthday colloquium in honour of victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attacked by suspected terrorists on Monday evening.
Tinubu, who announced the cancellation a few minutes after the official kick-up of the event, described it as a national tragedy.
Tinubu said his action became necessary to mourn the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna Train attack, which occurred on Monday night in Kaduna State.
He said: “I am very sad about the situation and it calls for sober reflection,” before cancelling the event, which already attracted many important dignitaries.
He said he cannot be celebrating while the nation is mourning.
The presidential hopeful appealed for understanding from guests already seated and urged religious leaders to pray for the victims of the train attack.
“This event shouldn’t be holding,” Tinubu told his guests, associates and followers at the Eko Hotels in Lagos, venue of the event.
He, thereafter, called on the two Christian and Islamic clerics, who offered opening prayers earlier, to also offer a special prayer for the repose of the victims of the terrorist attack and the nation in general before the departure of guests.
