The D-Boyz Section, a vibrant wing of the Prestigious Epe Club, has inaugurated its new executives.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the colourful event was held on Saturday, November 26th, 2022, at the popular Royal Waterfront Hotel.
During his address, the Chairman of the event, Rep. Wale Raji, congratulated the members of the group for the foresight and vibrance exhibited in establishing the D-Boyz Section. He added that over the years, the section prided itself on being the “Engine room of the Epe club,” stressing that without the formation of the group, the Epe club might have gone into oblivion due to the existence of a handful of redundant members like himself.
“For keeping the spirit and vision of the founding fathers, I want to congratulate you, and I want to express the appreciation of all the members for your contribution towards the revitalization of the club.
Today’s event marks the inauguration of the new officers of the club and the outgoing executives from the brief that I’ve seen so far, they have done wonderfully well because I don’t expect anything less from Akogun Ademola Lawal, a top-level Civil servant with an enormous wealth of experience, I do not expect anything short of outstanding performance,” he said.
While the Lawmaker apologised for his inactive participation in the club activities, which he blamed on herculean official tasks, he restated his commitment to the developmental agenda of the club. He, therefore, admonished the newly inaugurated officers to build on the solid foundation laid by the outgone administration.
Earlier in his welcome address, the outgoing Senior Boy, Akogun Ademola Lawal, disclosed that the D-Boyz section was established to support the acceleration of the club’s growth and development, stressing that the backing of the former president of the club in 2015 by the late Chief Lanre Razaq and Professor Olu Akeushola, was instrumental in its sporadic metamorphosis.
“The section of the club was formed by a group of young members with congruent values at a time when a revolution was required to change the face and culture of the club to a more contemporary culture so that the club would maintain her competitiveness and position as the leading Social Club in the Division.
“D-Boyz is an assembly of noble, notable and enviable brothers within the reputable Epe Club of Epe Division of Lagos State, who are interested in holding hands towards the betterment of lives for one another and the development of Epe Division,” he said.
Having taken the oath of office, the newly installed Senior Boy, Engineer Adeniyi Ogunsanya, intimated the gathering of his vision and plans for the group, which he said was no different from the developmental agenda of Epe club.
“I will tie the vision of D-Boyz to the vision of Epe Club which is to drive the socio-economic development of the Epe Division. That, we have been doing, and we will continue to do that as an interest group and as a pressure group. It is not going to be a very difficult assignment for us to do because the people who would listen are either members of Epe Club or D-Boyz,” he said.
At the colourful and fun gathering, apart from the newly installed Senior Boy, Chief Olayemi Dada (Deputy Senior Boy), Mr Muhammed Amuni (Prefect), Mr Ibrahim Sanuth (X-Chequer), Engineer Kunle Sikiru (Social Prefect) and Engineer Shamsideen Sadiq (Assistant Social) were also sworn in.
Mr Faisu Edu (Prefect), Mr Ibrahim Sanuth (X-Chequer) and Dr (Hon) Shittu Hakeem (Deputy Senior Boy) handed the baton of leadership alongside Akogun Ademola Lawal.
Eko Hot Blog reports that members of the group attested to the monumental contributions of the Balogun of Epe Division; Chief Lanre Razaq a.k.a KLM and former Provost of MOCPED; Professor Olu Akeusola, both of blessed memory towards the development of the prestigious group during its foundation years. This, according to the members, earned them the award of excellence.
Other notable dignitaries who were the recipient of the D-Boyz Section award include Rep. Wale Raji, Member, House of Representatives, Epe Federal Constituency; Prince Bayo Balogun, Member, House of Representatives, Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency and Akogun Ademola Lawal, Retired Deputy Corp Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
