Eko Hot Blog reports that the Epe Dynamic Club marked its 20th anniversary on Boxing Day by donating N250,000 cash to some patients receiving various forms of medical attention at the Epe General Hospital, Epe, Lagos.
During the social club’s visit to the hospital, Mr. Ayanbisi R.T, the Head of the department, of Medical Social Services alongside the Apex Nurse of the Hospital, Mrs. Balogun, disclosed the medical status of some patients, most of whom were stranded in the hospital due to their inability to foot the medical bills.
The hospital’s grateful management also applauded the leadership of the Epe Dynamic Club for exhibiting acts of charity by supporting the financial emancipation of patients in the government facility.
“I am especially elated and glad for this noble gesture from concerned stakeholders of the community like you. Our coming today is a great relief and it will no doubt make the work easier. We have a lot of medical issues and we are glad that you have decided to come in,” Ayanbisi said.
“The Management has been working assiduously to help these patients and we are glad that some NGOs, Traditional Rulers, and Political Leaders are supporting us with funds. The widow’s mite you’ve donated today will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of these helpless patients.”
Eko Hot Blog gathered that at the mention of the various patients, including accident victims, nursing mothers, and sick children and adults, the members of the club had a brief meeting where they decided on their choice of patients to support.
Afterward, the medical officials conducted the members of the club across the various sections of the hospital, where the grateful patients were informed of the clearance of their outstanding bills.
In an interview, the club’s Planning Committee Chairman and Epe Local Government Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Tunde Fuad Odupe, disclosed that the club’s history dates back to the earliest years of the millennium, precisely in 2002, with ten members who had hopes of making valuable contributions to the community.
He expressed joy that their dreams not only became a reality but also with the fact that most of the members who were bachelors and struggling to find their feet are now doing well in their various endeavours.
“We gathered ourselves, ten of us, in the year 2002, and by that time, none of us had gotten married or had a decent means of livelihood. It all started like a joke and if twenty years later, we can achieve this noble feat, it’s a dream come true,” Odupe said.
“In commemoration of our two decades of existence, we have set aside the sum of N500,000 to touch the lives of our people out of which N250,000 has been donated to various patients in financial distress and that is what we have come here to execute this morning in the hospital.”
In a separate interview, the President of the Epe Dynamic Club, Mr. Onabanjo Rufus, highlighted the various programmes the club has outlined to celebrate the 20th Anniversary.
He noted that rather than lavish their hard-earned funds on partying and merriment, the members thought it wise to embark on humanitarian gestures capable of putting smiles on the faces of the needy.
“I must let you know that there are other programmes we’ve mapped out to celebrate our club’s existence. We’ve extended our hands of fellowship to our highly revered Royal fathers, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe Land, and Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale, the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom. We’ve paid homage to them in the spirit of the yuletide with gifts,” Rufus said.
“In a bid to promote our togetherness and religious harmony over the years, we’ve donated the sum of 50,000 each to both First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, and Epe Central Mosque, Ita-Opo. By next week Sunday, we would be donating the sum of 50,000 to St. Michael Anglican Church, Popo-Oba.”
The club president added that the club has concluded plans to distribute 500 copies of free exercise books to some selected Public Primary Schools in the Epe community. This, he said, would be executed when school resumes in January 2023.
