The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission commences an investigation into the alleged actions of an actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin regarding the new Naira notes.
According to the commission, Omoseyin violated Section 21 (5) of the CBN Act of 2007.
The actress was seen on a video posted online spraying the new naira notes at a party.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation into the actions of actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, who was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday.
According to the EFCC, Omoseyin, a cosmetologist, is being investigated for allegedly tampering with new Nigerian naira notes, which is a violation of Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
The arrest was made after intelligence reports pointed to an online video that showed the actress spraying and stepping on the new naira notes at a party.

At the time of her arrest, Omoseyin was reportedly seen flaunting wads of the newly redesigned naira notes. The 31-year-old was taken into custody along Awolowo Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, and items such as a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices were reportedly recovered from her at the time of her arrest.
The actress was handed over to the EFCC on Thursday for further investigation, and the commission has stated that once the investigation has been concluded, she will be charged in court.
The actions of Omoseyin have caused outrage among the public, and the EFCC is taking a firm stance against anyone who violates the laws regarding the handling of the nation’s currency.
